Kayla Thames,
Oregon Film & Video Office
Los Angeles Marketing Representative
(323) 656-0889
Kayla@oregonfilm.org,
The State of Oregonís Film Office has a
new local marketing representative in Los Angeles. Kayla Thames will represent
Oregon in the L.A. area, providing information on Oregon locations and
resources to potential film and television productions.
Kayla brings experience from both production
and the film commission sideóshe was a location manager for several years
on feature films and television productions, and served as a production
specialist in the California Film Commission.
ìEven with our close proximity to Los Angeles,
we felt it would be very helpful to the industry for us to have someone
on the ground in the L.A. area and immediately accessible to the industry,î
said Veronica Rinard, executive director of the Oregon Film and Video Office.
Oregon offers a vast array of different
location looks, all easily accessible from Los Angeles, with direct flights
to three airports around the state and flight times of about two hours
or less. In addition, Oregon is in the same time zone as L.A., making communication
and travel that much easier.
ìI'm thrilled at the opportunity to work
with this stellar team, and to promote the myriad locales, services and
charms of Oregon to the Los Angeles film industry," said Kayla.
Thames contends that Oregon is in an ideal
position to compete with major international locations, including Canada
and New Zealand. She adds, "Oregon offers outstanding locations that can
match them look for look. It is much easier to reach than any locale outside
the U.S. There are no customs agents to deal with, and the skilled crew
base has that solid, work ethic filmmakers expect." In addition, Oregon
boasts a supportive business community, and a significant new incentive
program.
Through the OFVO's Oregon Production Investment
Fund, certain film costs incurred after January 1, 2005 by qualified production
companies will be eligible for cash rebates of 10%.
Kayla will be linked online to the Oregon
Film Officeís main office in Portland. She can be reached by email at Kayla@oregonfilm.org,
or by phone at (323)-656-0889.

Graig Van Gundy: "Ring II is currently preping
in Astoria, OR and all is going very well.
The FIlm and Video Office in Oregon went to a
lot of effort to assist us during our scouting. Bob Schmaling did
and especially good job.
I can not praise him and the film
office enough. The amount of time and energy (as well as patience
and understanding) they invested in our project has been exceptional.
And, Oregon has many wonderful places. Bob Schmaling is the Project manager
for the oregon film & Video office."
